A Review – Louis Vuitton: Series 3

On a gloomy day in London where it hadn’t rained but rather poured a ray of sunlight came in the form of Louis Vuitton: Series 3 and the opportunity of getting lost in my favourite world – that of LV. For about a third of my life I have carried a Louis Vuitton Noe on my shoulder (one second-hand and battered, the successor sparky and new) and it has been my trusty companion. I adore the brand: the rich history, the trunk-making heritage, the magnificent accessories (surely there is at least one you covet each season?), and the ready-to-wear collections, all of which are the culmination of a very clever man, Nicolas Ghesquière. The immersive experience which has now reached London for its third stint gives LV fans a peak inside this talented man’s brain, an insight into the creative process, the manufacturing, the shows, and everything LV. Irresistible, I know!

For a relatively small exhibition, it left a lasting impact. Digital displays moved around the walls of the spherical trunk room, a room of mirrors played videos of the AW15 to create the feeling of being in the moment, whilst the accessories room was pure heaven for anyone with a penchant for chic bags, shoes, and boots. Even as an LV devotee I wouldn’t recommend the expensive guided tour (you have to go round with a fairly large group which would somewhat dilute the experience), being able to wander round freely taking pictures until your phone storage is full is by far the best option, and even better it’s free. I challenge you to leave without adding a trip to the Sloane Street boutique to your to-do list…
